Ben Spins his New Wheels

Oblivious to Sushi!

This post should really be titled “Neil couldn’t wait to take Ben for a spin in his new Buggy” But that sounds really boring doesn’t it. Anyway, Yesterday we took him to Central Department Store, we pushed him around for 3 hours and he never woke up. Not one murmur.

We even stopped at an all you can eat Sushi/Japanese food place and everyone came to look but no reaction at all. In some ways it’s great we can go anywhere but just sometimes it worries me when he sleeps so much. Having said that everyone tells me that’s what he is suppose to do and its OK.

By the way don’t ask about Bens Hat, if I had my way he would have a nice romper suit and one blanket just in case the Air Con is too much but as you can see the poor boy is still being cooked like a lobster!

Ben’s New Wheels!

Nearly as Hot as a Ferrari!
Nearly as Hot as a Ferrari!

While in Bangkok Yesterday I went to Central Department Store in Chidlom. I wanted to look for a good Pram/Car Seat/Carry Cot all in one unit which would last for a few years. I can’t believe that I was actually thinking about something with Wheels that wasn’t a Porsche or Ferrari! They really didn’t have much selection seeing as this was supposedly the best place in Thailand to get one, I was a little disappointed. It took me about an hour to decide what to do. After test driving several (yes I did walk up and down with them to everyone’s amusement) and collapsing them to see how easy it is and generally having a good play, the only one that was any good, as you would expect, was the most expensive.
Now, before Ben was born everyone said you will only want the best for your son and I always thought, naaaa as long as he is comfortable, well fed and loved no problem. Oh how wrong I was, this bloody push chair that he won’t ever really notice has been chosen wth more care and affection than I ever thought possible. Just part of having a family I guess!

Moving into Overdrive

I Need More Sleep!
I Need More Sleep!

When we brought Ben home the Doctor said to us. You will know when he feels confident and starts to put on weight because suddenly he will start demanding more milk. Well, between yesterday lunch time and lunch time today he has gotten through 4 bottles of milk PLUS everything Sa can give him. Which is really nice to see, but the down side is he has become a little Poo machine, 5 Nappies since midnight and all FULL.

Unbelievable but I am sure he feels heavier all ready.
As you can imagine he didn’t sleep to much last night and didn’t want to wake up this morning. It was really cute to see him cove his eyes and go back to sleep.

You learn something new every day!

What do you think!

What do you think! This morning Sa was looking closely at Ben and said to me. He looks just like you. Now, when babies are only a few days old I really didn’t think you could tell. But it set me thinking so I went and dug out a picture of me when I was 3 days old. Wow! same nose, same hair, same feet and he is even doing the same things my mum told me I did when I was born. I am amazed!

Not Going Shopping in Bangkok on Sunday

On Friday Sa said to me. Lets go shopping in Bangkok on Sunday as we didn’t make it last week (See last post). Yet again I was dubious as it was the day before Songkran starts. Well events over took us as most people will realize by now.

It started on Friday. We knew all the Red Shirts were going to come and protest the Asian Summit that was being held in Pattaya. We also knew something was going wrong when we could see a steady stream of Helicopters picking up all the heads of state from the hotel and flying them all to the military air base down the road. We were working in the boat yard on my boat at the time and suddenly all we could hear was police sirens and helicopters.

It all seemed to be over very quickly but I suspect the repercussions will be felt for a long time. Thailand lost a huge amount of face on Friday which will be very hard to get back.

Things now seem to be getting worse. The media hasn’t picked up on the 4 small bombs that went off in Pattaya last night and the local media isn’t even mentioning the problems on Friday or all the riots in Bangkok.

Sa says she is very upset to see Thailand in such a mess. The problem is nobody can see where its going to end up. I have an idea that it has some way to go yet. The problem is that the tourist industry and business in general is going to be nonexistent before things start to recover.

On a brighter note Sa is fine and still getting bigger. But she is starting to get nervous about the 11th May. I have feeling that Ben might just appear before then as Sa looks like a beached Whale right now (not meaning to be horrible) and he is getting more and more active.

Are Pregnant Women Suppose To Be This Big!

Only 6 Months!
Only 6 Months!

Sa is getting worried now!

The Doctor tells her, our little boy is going to be a very big baby. He has strong legs and may well come early as he is nearly cooked!

Before this Sa thought she would have a natural birth but she is wavering now. I don’t blame her asI cannot guess how painful giving birth is.  So we seem to be down to an Epidural or Cesarean. I think the final choice is down to Sa.

Just look at this picture of her at 6 months and you will see what I mean. Everyone is asking “is it twins?”. We are assured its only one!
