Because Ben is 50% Thai and 50% English most Thais will look at him as having “Perfect Skin Colour” coupled with his long eyebrows and cute grin I have long suspected he would make a great kids model.
Last week Kwan and I were shopping for some clothes and the owner of “Kids Planet” Clothing was in one of their stores and she took one look at Ben and said “I want him” and so here we are 3 weeks later. First modelling assignment completed and hopefully more to come.
The funny thing is he knew something was up, and when, after the shoot the Lady tried to hand payment to his Mum he said “Pom Tang” which translates to “My Money” and he wouldn’t let her have it. When pushed as to “Don’t you think she can look after it for you”, the answer was “Mai Owe” (Don’t want) He gave it to Daddy to look after. I love it, he’s learning so fast!
Last week Ben started school he looks so cute in his uniform. He may only be two but apparently he has taken charge of the teachers and is telling them what to do!
He has also started asking lots of questions which I find amazing considering his age. Maybe we have a budding genious on our hands…. we wait to see.
This year low season in Thailand is worse than low, in fact its worse then ever. Since the Red Shirt protests in May everyone has run away and the place is empty.
Ben just seems to be growing so quickly that its hard to keep up with him. He is using a spoon now, and he is Talking! Only afew words like Plaa = Fish and Nam = Water. Still waiting on the first English word but it will come I’m sure. Everyone who see’s him says what a lovely little two year old (he is only 15 months) so I guess he is doing OK.
Nothing much to report this month. He is just getting bigger and faster at everything tearing around checking everything out. Notable achievements this month. He has worked out how to turn taps on and off, how to suck with a straw, and most importantly for mummy, how to Wai, wave goodbye and how to dance!
Ben has been in Bangkok this weekend. We have been really busy with him. Dragging him everywhere he was so tired on Satuday night he just crashed out.
Never mind he was spark awake and being totaly cute for Sunday lunch at the Pub. He is going to be a little lady killer. All he wants is big hugs and kisses from pretty girls. I hate to think what is going to happen when he works out what that little weena between his legs is really for……. For those of my friends that understand me, the English expression “A chip off the old block” comes to mind.
Last weekend Ben came to stay in Bangkok. We had such a lovely time.
Friday Night we went to the Fair Ground. He loved the big wheel and all the flashing lights. They even had a small roller coaster for children which he loved.
Saturday was Aquarium Day. He was fascinated by all the things swimming behind glass. That was, until he fell fast asleep.
In the Evening we got him dressed up in his new suit. He looked so cute then out to dinner at a nice restaurant. He managed to try just about everything we ordered much to the waitresses amazement.
Sunday. A day to relax in the park. Ben managed a whole lap of the park just holding on to one hand. He is so close to walking alone now. The only thing he wasn’t sure about, was the swing. Give him time I am sure he will love it when he understand.
Cha went out the other day and bought a present for Nong Lemon but she really isnt sure about it. But as for Ben………. He absolutely loves his new car.
What is really great is that its radio controlled so we can send him across the carpark and bring him back without any worries.
He found the horn on the second day which is permanantly fixed under his left hand. That was until he discovered that by holding the wheel and turning really hard he can overide the radio control…. It only took him three days to work this out. Me thinks he is going to driving a real car as soon as he can.
I have been in Australia for the last two weeks and thought a Kangaroo would make a good present for Ben. But he didn’t think much of that, he was much more interested in my phone. Never mind you can’t win them all..
I am not sure what Ben made of his frst Christams. Seems to me he was more interested in the Wrapping paper than his presents. I am sure it had to do with the bright colors and being able to rip it to pieces. Hey Ho thats what Christmas is all about.
No! Daddys Nose doesnt come off!
Aftere the presents we spent the rest of the day on the Beach. Very nice.
Yesterday while in Big C, I spotted some special food for young babies it is made from some sort of gluten free wheat or maze, dried banana and milk. It actually smelt and tasted quite good. (They were demoing it in the shop). So we took the plunge, Sa and I decide it was time to see what would happen with solid food. Check out the picture.
He wasn’t sure at first and more came out than stayed in. But after a few mouthfuls – big smile. About 5 minutes later Sa said I think he’s had enough now and went to take the bowl and spoon away. He howled his little head off till it came back and he promptly finished the entire bowl! I think we have to stock up on this stuff ready for England now. Only 48 Hours to go until the big journey. Let’s hope he is as good as usual.
