Over the last few days I can see Master Ben beginning to work things out like who is Mum! and who is Dad! I am sure he can already tell who is holding him. At first he didn’t like me holding him, obviously it wasn’t comfortable, but yesterday I found the answer at 6:30 in the morning. He didn’t want Mummy, or Daddy to cuddle him so just temporarily I put him on my tummy! Well, 2 hours later he was still there and seemed very happy. So “Daddy and Ben time” is firmly on the routine which is rather nice.
This Morning Sa was very tired as Ben kept her awake most of the night again. So I said, no problem I will take him out this morning. So after a quick bath and dressing him up (without the ridiculous hat) it was into Bens wheels and off down the prom. Seeing as I was hungry we went all the way down to Cafe de Mar where we stopped for coffee and Uncle Shawn owner of the cafe came to say hello. Then it was back along the sea front and Uncle Vishian the Deck Chair man stopped and had a play with Ben and then it was into 7Eleven to buy Mummies breakfast and all cashiers wanted to have a play. It really was a very busy morning for Master Ben, he actually managed to stay awake and smile at everyone.
When he gets older I want to make sure he understands about his family history and where he comes from. It’s a bit like this WEB site. It’s all part of recording his history so he can look back and see what Mum and Dad were thinking and doing before he was old enough to remember!
I realize that Ben won’t even look at this tree for the next few years, but it’s really nice to see where he fits into the English Family Tree. He is the 5th Generation of the Vass Family that we have records for and on my mother’s side he is the 7th Generation we have records for.
Just to give a perspective to this. The Gentleman sitting in the center of the picture on the right would be Ben’s Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Grandpa pictured around 1870.
This post should really be titled “Neil couldn’t wait to take Ben for a spin in his new Buggy” But that sounds really boring doesn’t it. Anyway, Yesterday we took him to Central Department Store, we pushed him around for 3 hours and he never woke up. Not one murmur.
We even stopped at an all you can eat Sushi/Japanese food place and everyone came to look but no reaction at all. In some ways it’s great we can go anywhere but just sometimes it worries me when he sleeps so much. Having said that everyone tells me that’s what he is suppose to do and its OK.
By the way don’t ask about Bens Hat, if I had my way he would have a nice romper suit and one blanket just in case the Air Con is too much but as you can see the poor boy is still being cooked like a lobster!
While in Bangkok Yesterday I went to Central Department Store in Chidlom. I wanted to look for a good Pram/Car Seat/Carry Cot all in one unit which would last for a few years. I can’t believe that I was actually thinking about something with Wheels that wasn’t a Porsche or Ferrari! They really didn’t have much selection seeing as this was supposedly the best place in Thailand to get one, I was a little disappointed. It took me about an hour to decide what to do. After test driving several (yes I did walk up and down with them to everyone’s amusement) and collapsing them to see how easy it is and generally having a good play, the only one that was any good, as you would expect, was the most expensive.
Now, before Ben was born everyone said you will only want the best for your son and I always thought, naaaa as long as he is comfortable, well fed and loved no problem. Oh how wrong I was, this bloody push chair that he won’t ever really notice has been chosen wth more care and affection than I ever thought possible. Just part of having a family I guess!
Yesterday I went to the British Emassy in Bangkok to make Bens English Birth Certificate and Passport. Quite easy really just expensive! I guess that because I was away and Sa had to look after Ben alone she was obviously tired. So when I left for work this morning a lovely Mother and Son picture was just waiting to be taken!
I was a little apprehensive when we knew we had to take some pictures of Ben suitable for his passport. Having read the literature about what was acceptable, and what was not, the one concession that was made for babies was that they didn’t have to look directly into the camera. Gee Thanks!
To start with his head would need supporting, which was impossible on his tiny head without my fingers showing at the side. So we decided to lay him down, the trouble is that as soon as he lay down he went to sleep!
We spent 1 Hr in the shop and gave up thinking we could do a better job at home, and then spent 2 hours at home trying to produce something better. Well, after about 150 photos we eventual got something we recon will be acceptable. I will let you know if that’s the case!
Cha and the Girls were playing with Lucky this morning and he was bouncing around as usual. It’s funny but as I was looking at him and thinking, there was something in the back of my mind telling me I had seen this picture before.
It took me a while to figure it out and find a picture. But it’s true he’s an EWOK I am sure of it!
Suppose I had better say the Ewok picture is copywrite Lucas Films or something!
Sa and I think Master Ben has his first Cold.
Last Night he didn’t sleep at all. Cried and Sniveled until 3am with intermittent snotty sneezes full of milk. I don’t understand how you can get a cold when it’s the middle of summer and 35 deg outside! Maybe it’s because he is new born, or maybe it’s another of those only in Thailand Moments!
